TULSA, OK – The Tulsa Oilers, proud ECHL affiliate of the NHL’s Winnipeg Jets and AHL’s Manitoba Moose, announced Tuesday the signing of rookie forward Ben Murphy, who played ten games for the Oilers at the end of last season.

Murphy arrived in Tulsa in March after finishing his senior season with Bowling Green State University. The 24-year-old forward scored four goals and added four assists in 10 games for the Oilers, and will maintain his rookie status entering the 2016-17 season, having played fewer than 25 professional games. Murphy recorded his first pro point, an assist, March 29 vs Colorado, and scored his first goal April 1 at Quad City.

The Duxbury, MA native skated in 145 games at BGSU during his four-year college career from 2012-2016, where he tallied 34 goals and 33 assists for the Falcons. Murphy becomes the second Falcons alum to sign with the Oilers this summer, following Dan DeSalvo, who signed last week. The two were teammates at BGSU from 2012-15.

The Oilers begin their third ECHL season October 15th when the team travels to face the Wichita Thunder. The Home Opener is Friday, October 21st, when Tulsa begins its ninth season of play at the BOK Center.
