Oilers Rope Mavericks In Shootout, 3-2
Goaltender Marco Emond turned away all four shooters he faced in a shootout, while Aaron Davis and Marty Standish connected, to lift the Tulsa Oilers to a 3-2 shootout win over the MissouriĀ Mavericks. The win pulled the Oilers to within three points of Missouri and Mississippi who are tied for fourth place in the Central Hockey League’s Northern Conference.
Jake Riddle opened the scoring with the Oilers 19th shorthanded goalĀ of the season, tying Texas for the league high. Jeff MacDermid tied it with just over a minute left in the first period.
In the second period, it was the Oilers turn to score late. Luke Stauffacher was able to punch in a rolling puck and that held until Mike Burgoyne scored midway through the third. Standish’s shootout attempt that ended the game set off a raucous celebration as the Oilers wrapped up their home schedule.
Tulsa plays its final six games on the road starting at Amarillo on Wednesday at 11:05 a.m.
