Oilers Fall Short In Gallant Effort, 2-1

In spite of a brilliant 50 save performance by Kevin St. Pierre, the Tulsa Oilers fell 2-1 to the New Mexico Scorpions in the third game in two and a half days at the end of a long road trip, Sunday.

Craig MacDonald of New Mexico and the Oilers’ Brendon Hodge exchanged goals through the first two periods, and it looked as if the Oilers may be headed to thier second straight overtime game.

But Jamie Herrington was able to convert a rebound at the end of a three on one break with 1:48 left to play and New Mexico made that hold up for the win.

The Oilers will conclude the home portion of the 2008-09 season Wednesday against the Mississippi RiverKings at 7:05 p.m.
