Oilers Drop Home Opener

It was a perfect night, except for the score.

The Tulsa Oilers inaugurated the BOK Center, with their largest crowd and second largest crowd in CHL history, Saturday night, but the crowd of 16,928 couldn’t help the Oilers overcome the Oklahoma City Blazers who defeated Tulsa 5-1.

After a scoreless first period, the teams swapped second period power play goals. Bill Vandermeer  put the visitors on top, and the Oilers answered that with a power play goal by Chris Kovalcik.

But the third period was all Oklahoma City. Tyler Harder gave the Blazers the lead and Simon Lambert scored on both halves of a double minor power play just 1:10 apart. Robin Gomez rounded out the scoring for Oklahoma City.

The Oilers host the Bossier-Shreveport Mudgs Friday at 7:35 p.m.

Hoping to see a lot better. I am optimistic. This team has the talent. Do they have the will?
    I hope so.

Good defense last Saturday. Offense - Get tough on those powerplays. Need more shooting less passing. Over all you guys looked good. The third period was the breaking point. It showed who really wanted to win.
