First OT Loss, 3-2

The tulsa Oilers lost for the first time in overtime this season, 3-2 to the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs Tuesday night at the BOK Center. The Oilers had previously gone to three shootouts, but Tuesday’s game was their first decided in overtime.

David Pszenyczny scored the game winning goal just 53 seconds into overtime. It was the third goal of the night scored by a Bossier-Shreveport defenseman as Simon Mangos opened the scoring in the first period and Dale Lupul tied the time on a two man advantage with 4:53 left to play.

For the Oilers Jeff Christian tied the game at one in the second period assisted by Mike Beausoleil. Christian,runs his po int streak to nine straight games, and Beausoleil’s streak extends to seven games, the top two current streaks in the league.

Brendon Hodge gave the Oilers a 2-1 lead just under three minutes into the third period. The lead held until Lupul connected on the 5-on-3 power play.

The Oilers play at Wichita Wednesday night with a special New Years Eve start time of 5:05 p.m. The game can be heard at www.tulsaoilers.com.
