6th Annual Pink In The Rink Night This Saturday

Tulsa-Oilers-2013-pink-in-the-rink-829x1024TULSA, OK – Saturday, February 8 at the BOK Center, the Tulsa Oilers are facing off with the Wichita Thunder at 7:35 p.m. and are taking a stand against cancer on the sixth annual Pink In the Rink Night presented by TD Williamson and benefiting Turn Tulsa Pink.

The Oilers players will wear special pink jerseys which will be auctioned off immediately following the game to raise money for Turn Tulsa Pink, a non-profit organization which provides assistance to men’s, women’s, and children’s cancer charities across northeast Oklahoma.  Turn Tulsa Pink will also receive a portion of the ticket proceeds from Saturday’s game and Oilers fans will have an opportunity to personally donate to the cause during a “pass-the-bucket” campaign in the first intermission.  The Oilers are encouraging all fans to wear pink in support of cancer survivors, patients, and their families.

A special group of cancer survivors will help welcome the Oilers to the ice and will also participate in a pink parade during both intermissions.

The Oilers clash with the rival Thunder for the eighth of 14 meetings in the StoneWolf Casino Cup series and Tulsa holds a 4-2-1 edge over Wichita in the previous seven contests.  Both squads remain firmly on the CHL playoff bubble, giving Saturday’s tilt extra importance beyond the usual bragging rights between the league’s oldest franchises.

Turn Tulsa Pink supports all people affected by cancer in communities throughout the Tulsa area.  Turn Tulsa Pink volunteers believe that pink is not the color of just one cancer, but the color of passion, power, and love.  No one cancer is more devastating than another when it happens to you or someone you love.  Turn Tulsa Pink is a door-to-door network of people locally who help those dealing with cancer.

TD Williamson is on the leading edge of pipeline equipment and services.  An innovative leader in the industry for more than 90 years, TD Williamson delivers onshore and offshore applications for pipelines systems around the world.

The Oilers are privileged to work closely with committed community partners like TD Williamson and Turn Tulsa Pink to raise awareness for the ongoing fight against cancer and support patients and their families during a time of need.

NHL Playoffs update:

#1 Chicago Blackhawks vs. #7 Detroit Red Wings (Detroit leads 2-1)

The Wings are effectively taking time and space away from the likes of Toews, Kane, Hossa, and Chicago’s other offensive threats.  Each game has been chippier and nastier than the last, exactly the way playoff hockey was meant to be.  Buckle up for the long haul, this has seven games written all over it.

#5 Los Angeles Kings vs. #6 San Jose Sharks (Series tied 2-2)

With San Jose’s 2-1 win on Tuesday night, both sides have held serve at home in what has turned into a best-of-three series.  The Sharks are 4-0 at home in the playoffs but the Kings have won 12 straight postseason games at the Staples Center.

#1 Pittsburgh Penguins vs. #7 Ottawa Senators (Pittsburgh leads series 2-1)

Could Daniel Alfredsson’s late heroics in Game 3 prove to be a turning point in this series? Not if Ottawa can’t find a way to earn a victory in Game 4.  Even with the return of Jason Spezza to the lineup, it feels like the ‘Sens days are numbered.

#4 Boston Bruins vs. #6 New York Rangers (Boston leads 3-0)

The blue shirts squandered a third period lead on Tuesday night and gave up two goals to Boston’s fourth line.  Bruins’ netminder Tuukka Rask may be the star of these playoffs so far and the first round comeback against Toronto seems to have given Boston a new level of confidence and belief.  The Rangers’ powerplay is 2-for-38 in this postseason. Enough said.

A New Addition To the Gordon Family: The Oilers would like to congratulate Ben Gordon and his wife Maile on the birth of their baby boy, Mack James Gordon.  Mack arrived on the morning of May 18th and weighed in at 7 pounds, 10 ounces.  The Gordon’s truly appreciate all the love and support they have received from their family, friends, and Tulsa Oilers fans.
