Pirnak and Toninato To Play In Alumni Game
TULSA, OK – Doug Pirnak and Derek Toninato, both former Oilers wingers, have committed to play in the fourth annual Oilers Alumni Game on Saturday, August 25th at the Oilers Ice Center.
Pirnak, who spent his entire career in the CHL, played 201 games for the Oilers from 1998 to 2005. The Alberta native had his best season in 2004-05 when he recorded 14 goals and 16 assists while helping the Oilers reach the playoffs for the first time in four years.
“I always enjoy getting back with the guys and getting back out on the ice,” Pirnak said. “I’ll be one of the guys shaking off some rust out there and I hope they have some oxygen tanks on the bench.”
Pirnak makes his home in Tulsa and is thankful for the opportunity to stay connected with the Oilers organization.
“This town has treated me and so many of the players so well over the years,” said Pirnak. “It’s a lot of fun for us to interact with the fans again and it’s going to be a great weekend.”
Toninato suited up for the Oilers for two seasons and posted a career-high 41 points in 44 games during the 2001-02 campaign. The Green Bay, Wisconsin product followed up with 9 goals and 18 assists in the 2002-03 season.
“The Alumni Game is such a good tradition that carries through the entire organization,” remarked Toninato. “To have such a solid alumni base and to have that camaraderie with the current and former players is really something special.”
Oilers fans are encouraged to attend the Alumni Game Pre-Party on Friday, August 24th at Woody’s Corner Bar (2nd and Elgin) in downtown Tulsa.
Tickets to the Oilers Alumni Game are $10 for season ticket holders who purchase tickets before the day of the game, $15 for non-season ticket holders before the day of the game, and $20 for everyone on the day of the game.
