Oilers Hold Off Blazers 5-4
A flury of three goals in 2:37 early in the third period lifted the Tulsa Oilers to a 5-4 preseason win over the Oklahoma City Blazers Thursday night at the Oilers Ice Center. After a scoreless first period, Jordan Fuder put Oklahoma City on top. The Oilers evened the score on a penalty shot by Josh Garbutt. Chris Barth put the Oilers on top six and half minutes into the second period. Jake Roadhouse, Corey Rutt and Andrew Lackner boosted Tulsa's lead to 5-1, just three minutes into the period. As things turned out they would need everyone one of those goals. Marc Connors scored, and Mike Burgoyne had a pair of goals to draw Oklahoma City within one. The Oilers withstood a furious charge, including a kiling a two man disadvantage in the final 2:44 to hold on for the victory. The Oilers begin the regular season on Friday October 19th at Amarillo in a game that will be broadcast on KRVT AM 1270. Their home opener is slated for Friday November 2nd against Oklahoma City. Oiler season tickets for the 2007-08 season are now on sale. The prices range from $300 to $475. The Oilers also have in place an automatic payment plan to make purchasing season tickets easy and convenient. For more information call the Oilers at (918) 632-7825. |
