OILERS SIGN FOUR MORE

 

 

TULSA, OK — The Tulsa Oilers of the Central Hockey League are excited to announce the signings of forwards Ryan Raven and Gerome Giudice along with defensmen Matt Baxter and Luke Lucyk for the upcoming season.

Lucyk was called up to the Oilers during the latter part of the regular season from the Augusta Riverkings of the SPHL and made an immediate impact manning the blueline for the Oilers. A graduate of the University of Notre Dame, Lucky Luke contributed 7 points in 15 regular season games along with 3 points in 10 playoff games. “Luke was a very solid pickup during a time when we needed help on the backend. He contributed offensively while being a stalwart in his own zone, and will be counted on to be a top 4 defenseman for the 2011-12 season,” stated head coach Bruce Ramsay

Baxter , a rookie, comes to the Oilers from Division 1- University of Alabama-Huntsville where he played for 4 years and had a huge breakout season last year where he contributed 22 points in 32 games as well as playing 3 games for the Reading Royals at the end of his senior season . “At 6′ 3” and 200 pounds, Matt is a big mobile defenseman that is capable of running a power play and will be a great fit with the defensmen we have already signed,” quotes Bruce Ramsay.

Raven, a 6′ 4” 230 pound power forward, played for Mercyhurst University where he competed for three seasons. Like Matt Baxter , Raven had a breakout season last year putting up 26 points in 37 games while being a physical force for the Lakers . Head Coach Bruce Ramsay said ” Ryan is a great addition to the Oilers family as he combines scoring and physical play which are attributes the Oilers fans love to watch.”

Giudice, a 22 year old, former Captain of the Sudbury Wolves and player for Head Coach Bruce Ramsay, comes to the Oilers after playing two seasons in the top division in Italy. A 6′ 0” 210 pound two-way Centerman ,Gerome had 37 points and 156 PIMS in 64 games for Fassa HC . “Gerome is a heart and soul type of player who plays all facets of the game well and is the type of player you go to war with. Giudice is a welcome addition to the Oilers as he is gritty, great on face-offs , solid defensively and can contribute offensively,” states Bruce Ramsay.

The Tulsa Oilers continue to build a team that will mirror the success of last year’s squad which had its best season in 17 years.
