Oilers Sweep Into Playoff Position

The Tulsa Oilers got a 37 save performance from Trevor Cann and goals from four different goal scorers to complete a weekend sweep of the Missouri Mavericks with a 4-2 win Saturday night in Independence, Mo.
Travis Banga got his first goal as an Oiler, the only goal of the first period.Mike Burgoyne tied it for Missouri in the first two minutes of the second period. T.J. Caig and Jim Henkemeyer stretched the Oiler lead to 3-1 heading into the third period.
Adam Bartholomay gave Tulsa a three goal cushion with a wrist shot 4:40 in the third period. Missouri’s Jeff Christian made things interesting with an extra attacker power play goal with 2:22 left to play.
The Oilers move into sole posession of fifth place, the final playoff spot in the Northern Conference with the win. They will host the Colorado Eagles Tuesday at 7:05 p.m. at the BOK Center.
