Oilers Can’t Overcome Slow Start In 6-3 Loss

The Tulsa Oilers fell behind the Missouri Mavericks 3-0 and never got closer than within two goals again, in a 6-3 loss Tuesday night at the BOK Center.

Missouri got first period goals from Andrew Davis, Derek Pallardy and Jeff MacDermid in the first 12 and a half minutes, before Tyler Butler answered with a power play goal for the Oilers.

Jordan Formean of Missouri had the only goal of the second period, when he converted an Oiler turnover into a power play goal into a wide open net.

A wild third period saw 105 penalty minutes and two goals by each team. Jake Riddle got the Oilers back within 4-2  putting home a rebound off a rush by Aaron Davis. Missouri didn’t allow the Oilers any closer though as Nick Sirota tipped in a shot from the point for Missouri’s third power play goal of the game. The Oilers tried to claw back into it when Davis scored a goal of his own with 1:18 left. But former Oiler Tom Maldonado scored into an empty net with 44 seconds left, his first goal since being traded to Missouri on December 16th.

The Oilers continue a four game homestand Friday against Colorado at 7:35 pm. at the BOK Center.
