Oilers Brand Sizzles Mavericks, 3-2

A dramatic third period rally lifted the Tulsa Oilers to a 3-2 shootout win over the Missouri Mavericks and into a tie for fifth place (final playoff spot) in the Central Hockey League’s Northern Conference.
 
The Oilers trailed 2-0 heading into the third period as Toby Lafrance and Nick Sirota staked the home team to the lead.
 
Tulsa got third period goals from Troy Riddle and T.J. Caig with 1:01 left to play which forced overtime. The game moved into the shootout and the Oilers got goals from Dan Riedel and Aaron Davis while Trevor Cann stopped four of the five shooters he faced.
 
The same two teams meet Saturday night again in Missouri at 7:05 p.m.
Prior to Friday’s game the Oilers waived goaltender Kevin Armstrong and left wing Matt Radoslovich and activated defenseman Tyler Fleck from leave of absence.
