Late Rush Sink Oilers, 4-2

The Rapid City Rush scored in the final minute of each period en route to a 4-2 win over the Tulsa Oilers Friday night in Rapid City.

After Mike Mullen and Jason Lawmaster scored in the first period to give the Oilers a 2-0 lead, Kyle Sheen cut the lead to 2-1 with 23 seconds left in the first period. It stayed that way until Mark DeSantis scored on a breakaway with 2:05 left in the second period and Gio Flamminio gave the Rage the lead with 13 seconds left in the period. Jon Pelle scored into an empty net with 34 seconds left to seal the victory.

Earlier in the day, the Oilers announced Tony Martino is the team’s new coach. He is expected to coach his first game Tuesday night.

The Oilers and Rush play again Saturday night in Rapid City at 8:05 in a game that can be heard on www.tulsaoilers.com.
