Underway: The Tulsa Oilers have started training camp for their 19th Central Hockey League Season. The Oilers will be on the ice each day this week from 8:15 to 11 a.m. at the Oilers Ice Center (64th and Mingo). All sessions are free and open to the public.
Two Games: The Oilers will play two preseason games, both against the Wichita Thunder. They will travel to the Wichita Ice Arena on Friday for a 7 p.m. contest and then return to the Oilers Ice Center to face Wichita Saturday at 7 p.m.
Pick Em Up: Season ticket holders will have their first chance to pick up their season tickets at Saturday’s preseason game with Wichita. Following that, season tickets will be available for pick up at the Oilers administrative office, 9128 E 46th Street (between Memorial and Mingo).
Lotta Thunder: Not only will the Oilers play their two preseason games against Wichita, their first two regular season games will also be against the Thunder, with the season opener at the BOK Center on Friday October 15th at 7:35 p.m. The two teams play the next night in Wichita. Four of the Oilers’ first seven games are against Wichita. The two teams will face each other a total of 12 times in the regular season, the most for any opponent for the Oilers.
Partner Up: For the first time in their 19 years since the CHL’s rebirth, the Oilers are fully affiliated with a National Hockey League team. In September, the Oilers announced their affiliation with the Colorado Avalanche of the NHL and their American Hockey league affiliate, the Lake Erie Monsters.
