Just plain ugly.

The Tulsa Oilers lost 12-3 to the Corpus Christi IceRays Saturday night, surrendering seven third period goals, and giving up eight power play goals. The two teams combined for 219 penalty minutes.

Tulsa struck first on a power play goal by Brendon Hodge, but Corpus Christi answered on goals by Jeremy Leroux ad Jeff Grant, before Jeff Christian scored on a power play for the Oielrs to tie the game at two after one period.

The IceRays then scored the next nine goals before Kai Magnussen ended the scoring run with 7:05 left on a shorthanded goal for the Oilers. Chris richards did most of the damage for Corpus Christi with four gaols and three assists.

The Oilers play their home opener and the first hockey game ever at the BOK Center Saturday against Oklahoma City at 7:35 p.m.

    Get the bad losses out of the way early. Get the players learning how to be a team and move on. Have a successful season and get a championship. It’s long over-due.
