‘Bugs Pester Oilers, 3-1
A three goal second period outburst by the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs was enough to lift them to a 3-1 win over the Tulsa Oilers Friday night at the Century Tel Center in Bossier City.
After Chris Kovalcik’s rebound goal off a shot from Mike Beausoleil was the only goal of the first period, the Oilers were unable to sustain the momentum after the first intermission. Bossier-Shreveport outshot the Oilers 25-9 in the second period and got a power play goal from Travis Clayton, a delayed penalty goal from J.J. Martin and the final tally from Tyrel Lucas.
In spite of the loss, Kevin St. Pierre made 41 saves in goal for the Oilers. Tulsa drops to 1-4-1 on the young season and will host the Amarillo Gorillas Saturday at 7:35 p.m. at the BOK Center.
