Magnussen Back In Fold
The Tulsa Oilers leading rookie goal scorer in 2007-08 will be back for the 2008-09 Central Hockey League season. Right winger Kai Magnussen who had 20 goals last years for the Oilers has agreed to return for his second pro season. The Oilers will play the 2008-09 season in the new Bank of Oklahoma center. “I am extremely excited to have a player like Mags back for a second season,” Oilers coach Dan Hodge said. “Kai had a great rookie campaign and I am looking forward to him having another exceptional season. It is very important to have a core group of players that know what I expect and who know the system, having Mags back in the fold puts us in a great position.” Magnussen joined the Oilers last season after his collegiate career at Holy Cross. Along with his 20 goals to lead Oiler rookies, the 5-foot-10, 190-pounder from Okotoks, AB also had 14 assists for 34 points and 92 penalty minutes. He finished the season getting points in eight of the Oilers’ final 12 games. “Our season didn’t end the way we wanted it to and I’m looking forward to turning that around in our new barn. I really enjoy Tulsa and am looking forward to coming back,” Magnussen said. “I know more about the league now, and I think I’ve grown as a player.” The Oilers are hosting an Ice Breaker seat selection party on Sunday May 18 from 1-4 p.m. at the Oilers Ice Center, 64th and Mingo. Fans will have a chance to visit with players, Hodge, general manager Taylor Hall and Oilers’ owner Jeff Lund. Season tickets for the Oilers 2008-09 season in the new BOK Center are available by calling the Oilers at (918) 632-PUCK (7825). |
