Oilers Top Mavs 4-3
Trevor Cann made 35 saves and Marty Standish had the shorthanded game winning goal for the Tulsa Oilers who defeated the Missouri Mavericks 4-3 Friday night at the BOK Center.
The win moves the Oilers into sole possession of third place in the Turner conference, just one point out of second. Ray Dilauro of Missouri and the Oilers Jack Combs traded first period goals. Missouri’s Mike Berry and Anthony Battaglia did likewise in the second.
The Oilers claimed the lead on Mike Wirll’s goal early in the third period. Standish’s shorthanded goal gave the Oilers a shortlived lead for 28 seconds until Bill Vandermeer scored 28 seconds later on the same penalty to get Missouri back within one.
The game had a tense finish as Missouri finished on a power play, but the Oilers held on for their first regulation win against Missouri in seven games this season. The same two teams play Saturday night in Missouri at 7:05 p.m.
Oilers Hockey Card Giveaway Tonight
The Tulsa Oilers in conjunction with Supercuts will be giving away their second set of player hockey cards tonight (January 28) when the Oilers host the Missouri Mavericks at 7:35 at the BOK Center. Doors open at 6:35 p.m. with the first 1,000 fans receiving the free player cards.
After the game, Oiler players will be in the Oneok club (located behind section 110) to autograph the cards.

Dignard At Hockey Happy Hour
Defenseman Tom Dignard is the featured player guest at the Oilers Hockey Happy Hour on Monday Janaury 24th.
Dignard is currently the Oilers plus/minus leader at +16. The Oilers Hockey Happy Hour is a talk show from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Paradox Pub and Grill in Broken Arrow. Coach Bruce Ramsay will be on hand to answer fans questions and discuss the upcoming week.

Sizzzzzzling Oilers Home Twice
Tues. Again: The Tulsa Oilers winners of four straight games, and six of their last eight, have two home games this week. The Oilers host the Colorado Eagles Tuesday at 7:05 p.m. They host the Missouri Mavericks Friday at 7:35 p.m. and then travel to Missouri for a 7:05 p.m. game on Saturday.
Buckin’ Bulls: The Oilers stretched their current winning streak to four games with a convincing 6-1 win over the Laredo Bucks Friday at the BOK Center and then a 2-1 shootout road win at Texas.
Special K: Goaltender Ian Keserich was instrumental in the Oilers success last weekend. He came on in relief of Trevor Cann after the first period Friday, and stopped all 23 shots he faced over the final 40 minutes. He surrendered just one power play goal in 65 minutes against Texas and stopped all five shootout attempts he faced. For the weekend Keserich had a 0.57 goals against average and .983 save percentage. Keserich has stopped 20 of 22 shootout attempts this season, a .909 save percentage, tops in the league for goalies who have faced more than five shootout attempts.
Four More: Points for right winger Chad Costello have moved him into second place in the CHL scoring race. He had two goals and two assists, and is now second in the league with 25 goals and his 38 assists give him 63 points.
Stand Out: Marty Standish got the shootout winning goal Saturday, the only successful attempt in 10 shooters. The goal was also the 200th of his CHL career.

Hot Oilers Visit Hot Brahmas
Two teams riding combined seven game win streaks clash when the Tulsa Oilers visit the Texas Brahmas Saturday night at 7:30.
The Oilers have won three straight while Texas has won its last four. Texas has the second highest winning percentage in the CHL. To add to the importance of the game, the two teams are in a three way tie (with Odessa) for third place in the Berry Conference.

Call Proves Costly In 3-2 Loss
The goal that got away from the Tulsa Oilers resulted in a game that got away, as the Oilers lost 3-2 to the Missouri Mavericks Saturday night in Independence, Mo.
The Oilers had a goal by Mike Beausoleil in the first period called. back. Referee Boone Bruggman originally signaled goal on the play but after consulting with his linesman nullified the goal, which would have made it 1-0 for the Oilers. The first period ended scoreless.
Missouri jumped to a 2-0 lead on an early second period goal by Toby Lafrance, and one by Bill Vandermeer with 7:11 left in the period. Chad Costello scored his 20th goal of the season for the Oilers on a power play with 3:03 left in the period.
Olivier Filion scored early in the third for Missouri, but Sean Erickson answered that back for the Oilers three minutes later.
Tulsa’s next game is at home against the Arizona Sundogs Friday at 7:35 p.m. The Oilers have also announced a new location for their weekly coach’s show, which will now take place at Paradox Pub and Grill, 411 W. Stonewood Drive in Broken Arrow every Monday at 6:30 p.m.
