Oilers Keep Rolling, 4-2

The Tulsa Oilers won thier fifth straight game Tuesday night defeating the Rapid City Rush 4-2 at the BOK Center. The win lowersthe Oilers magic number to clinch a playoff spot to four. Any combination of Oiler wins and Laredo losses adding up to four will secure a playoff berth for Tulsa.

Mike Beausoleil broke open a scoreless game with four and a half minutes left in the second period. Luke Lucyk scored his first goal as an Oiler in his first game at the BOk Center to give Tulsa a 2-0 lead. Ryan Menei’s 35th goal of the season cut the lead to 2-1. The Oilers regained the two goal lead when Marty Standish scored. It was his 500th CHL career point. The dramacontinued when Derek Leblanc wristed home a shot from the slot to make it 3-2 with two and a half minutes left. John Mori sealed the victory with an empty net goal for Tulsa.

The wingives the Oilers 30 vicotiresfor the first time since the 2004-05 season, which is also the last season they made the playoffs. The Oilers host the Dayton Gems Thursday at 7:05 p.m.

Keserich Joins Ramsay On Hockey Happy Hour

Goaltender Ian Keserich, coming off a stellar week, will be the featured player guest on February 21st at the Tulsa Oliers Hockey Happy Hour.  The Hockey Happy Hour is an hour long talk show with head caoch Bruce Ramsay that takes place at the Paradox Pub and Grill in Broken Arrow. The Hockey Happy Hour starts at 6:30 p.m.

Wirll, Combs Lift Oilers To OT Win

Jack Combs’ goal 45 seconds into overtime lifted the Tulsa Oilers to a 4-3 overtime win over the Mississippi RiverKings Saturday night at the BOK Center.

The Oilers got the last goal after surrendering the first two goals of the game. Patrick Levesque and Louis Dumont scored in the first period to give the Mississippi the lead.

The Oilers battled back in the second period as Mike Wirll finished off a play from Combs. Gary Steffes pounded in a rebound off a shot by John Mori to tie the game. Wirll’s second goal of the game in the third period gave the Oilers the lead. It lasted less than a minute when Jeff Christian lifted in a back hand to tie the game and force the overtime.

The Oilers continue a four game homestand Tuesday when they host the Missouri Mavericks at 7:05 p.m.

Fast Start Lifts Texas Over Oilers 3-1

Goals by Greg Hogeboom and Chad Wollard in the first five minutes propelled the Texas Brahmas to a 3-1 win over the Tulsa Oilers Friday night at the BOK Center.

Mick Lawrence stretched the lead to 3-0 when his centering pass hit defenseman Tyler Fleck in the skate and trickled in jsut over the goal line. The Oilers got on the board when Sean Erickson wristed home his ninth goal of the season with 11:55 left to play.

The Oilers host the Mississippi RiverKings Saturday at 7:35 p.m.

Oilers Gear Up For Key Weekend

Now entrenched in second place of the Central Hockey League’s Berry Conference the Tulsa Oilers hope the recent blast of hockey weather will inspire them in their return to the BOK Center this weekend.
The Oilers have 50 points and will face two teams chasing them in the standings. The Texas Brahmas (47 points) visit Friday and the Oilers host the Mississippi RiverKings (46 points) on Saturday. Both games start at 7:35 p.m.
“It’s a big weekend for us,” Oilers coach Bruce Ramsay said. “We’ve got a chance to put some space between us and a couple of teams right behind us. And I know they are thinking they have a chance to make things even tighter than they are.”
The Oilers did receive word that CHL leading scorer Chad Costello has been called up to Lake Erie of the American Hockey League. Costello has ridden a 17 game point streak to the top of the CHL scoring chart with 28 goals and 44 assists for 72 points in 46 games.
“He certainly deserves this opportunity,” Ramsay said. “I’m proud of him and happy for him.”

Game At Allen Postponed; Oiler Offices Closed

The Tulsa Oilers game scheduled for Wednesday February 2nd at Allen has been postponed to Tuesday February 8 at 7:30 p.m.

Heavy snowfall in Tulsa combined with icy conditions around Allen forced the postponement.

The Oilers admnistrative offices will also be closed on Wednesday February 2nd.

Second Place Oilers Hit Road

3 for The Road:The Tulsa Oilers have moved into second place of the Central Hockey League’s Berry Conference and have three key road conference match ups this week. The Oilers take on first place Allen Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. The Oilers travel to Mississippi for a pair of games Friday and Saturday with each game starting at 7:05 p.m. All games can be accessed via the internet at www.tulsaoilers.com and CHL TV.

Movin’ Up: The Oilers won two out of three games last week and have won six of their last seven to move into second place. After dropping a 4-1 decision to Colorado on Tuesday, The Oilers took a pair of one goal decisions from Missouri, 4-3 and 5-4 on Friday and Saturday.

Still Rollin’: Chad Costello has extended his point streak to 14 games (tied for longest in the CHL this season). His 31 points in that streak has helped him moved into second place in the CHL scoring race with 26 goals and 40 assists for 66 points.

Steel Walls: Braden Walls had a goal and two assists for the Oilers Saturday night, against his former team in Missouri.

Killin’ Em: Three road games this week shouldn’t bother the Oilers top flight penalty killing unit. Tulsa has the best road penalty killing percentage in the league at 86.7 percent and is second overall at 85.4 percent, just behind Missouri’s 85.5 percent.

Back Home: The Oilers return home February 11th against Texas at 7:35 p.m.
