Oh Buggers! Oilers Fall In Shootout

Goaltender Marty Magers stopped 39 shots, but it wasn’t quite enough for the Tulsa Oilers who fell to the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs 2-1 in a shootout Thursday night in Bossier-Shreveport.

Jake Riddle for the Oilers and Bossier-Shreveport’s Travis Clayton swapped second period power play goals, and Magers turned aside 10 third period shots, then withstood a seven shot barrage in overtime while the Oilers managed only four shots total through the third period and overtime.

In the shootout however, Magers’ counterpart at the other end of the ice, John DeCaro, stopped all four Oiler attempts, while David Rutherford and Chris St. Croix scored for Bossier-Shreveport.

The Oilers play at Mississippi Friday night at 7:05 p.m.
